Sarcoidosis is a disease causing inflammatory nodules in various body organs, usually beginning with lungs and lymph nodes.
Its causes are not known.
Symptoms may not be present always and depend on the organ affected. They include:
- Persistent dry cough
- Chest pain and tightness
- Weight loss
- Dry eyes
- Vision problems
- Skin lesions and bumps
- Skin discoloration
- Logfren’s syndrome
Treatment may not be required in all the cases. When required it includes:
- Corticosteroids, mainly prednisone
- Other medication like hydroxychloroquine, methotrexate, etc.
Since the causes are not clear, there is no way to prevent sarcoidosis.
