Flu or Influenza


It is a contagious respiratory infection caused by one of the three influenza viruses A, B and C.


  • Inhaling the air contaminated by talking, coughing or sneezing of infected people
  • Touching an object contaminated by the virus and then touching your mouth or nose


Symptoms of flu emerge suddenly and may cause a lot of weakness. These include:

  • Headache
  • Dry cough
  • Chills
  • Body aches
  • Fever (102-104)
  • Sore throat
  • Nasal congestion
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness and vomiting
  • Loss of appetite


  • Plenty of rest
  • Lots of fluids
  • Medications like paracetamol


  • Yearly vaccination
  • Washing hands often
  • Avoiding exposure to infected people
