Finger Dislocation


Finger dislocation is a condition where the bones of a finger are forced out of their normal position.


  • Direct trauma to the finger
  • Overextension of the finger


  • Extreme pain
  • Swelling
  • Crooked appearance
  • Sometimes, break in the skin

Following steps will be taken by a physician to treat a dislocated finger:

  • Realignment of the bone with or without local anesthesia
  • Protective splint or taping to the next finger
  • Surgery in rare cases


  • Avoid direct trauma to the fingers
Avoid getting fingers caught in clothes or other things
