Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is a condition of abnormal vaginal bleeding.


  • Hormonal imbalance
  • No ovulation or release of eggs from the ovaries
  • Fibroids
  • Polyps
  • Endometrial cancer


  • Irregular bleeding
  • Bleeding in between periods
  • Periods lasting longer than usual
  • Heavy bleeding


  • Observation in case of first few years of starting periods
  • Birth control pills
  • Hormone therapy
  • Surgical treatments like endometrial ablation or hysterectomy

There is no way to prevent dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
