Dislocated Lens


Dislocated lens is the lens which has moved partially or completely away from its actual position in the eye.


  • Damage to ligaments supporting the lens
  • Heredity
  • Trauma to the eye
  • Certain conditions such as Marfan’s syndrome

In case of partial dislocation, symptoms may not be present. If present symptoms include:

  • Blurred vision
  • Quivering iris
  • Cataract
  • Retinal detachment

If symptoms are absent then treatment is not required. Otherwise treatment includes:

  • Glasses to correct vision problems
  • Surgery to treat cataract or other serious eye problems


  • Wearing protective eye gear while playing sports
  • Avoiding trauma to the eye
